Owner Renter

Yes, any income earned from renting out your Sprinter is taxable. In cases where you’re required to pay taxes on each rental individually, we encourage you to build the cost into your daily rental rate, or list it as an additional percentage-based fee. This can be done by editing the Sprinter rates on your owner’s dashboard.

Our software partner tracks your yearly income through the website and makes the information available at the end of each year for reporting purposes. We advise you to familiarize yourself with local tax policies and consult a professional to determine your tax liability.

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) requires that all U.S. companies processing payments, including our software partner, Outdoorsy, report the gross earnings of U.S. customers that earn over $20,000 and have 200+ transactions in the calendar year.

If you cross both IRS thresholds in a calendar year, Outdoorsy will provide you with a Form 1099-K—emailed to you by January 31.

Take photos and detailed notes of the damage as soon as the Sprinter is returned.

If the damage is less than their security deposit, withhold the necessary amount from the deposit. Reach out to our support team via live chat (in the lower right corner of the owner's dashboard) or email support.

If damage exceeds the deductible amount, email us within 48 hours of recognizing the damage so our support team can begin processing your claim.

Once owners and renters finalize a reservation, the renter is charged the reservation deposit or the full amount if the rental is within 14 days. Our software partner holds these funds until 24 hours after the rental begins, then releases them into your provided checking account. (Please allow 3-5 business days for the deposit to post to your account).

Owners receive 80% of the total reservation cost and any add-on charges.

In the event of a security deposit claim, a 2.95% payment processing fee is subtracted from the total claimed amount.

All renters are charged a service fee based on the total of their reservation. There is a minimum renter fee of $15 for Sprinters; tax is not included in these calculations.

Depending on the nature of the change requests, you can choose to either cancel the reservation or make the necessary adjustments. If the changes will require a change to the reservation total, you can make those edits directly on the reservation within the owner's dashboard.

You can add or edit your payout methods in your profile on our software partner's website.

Take Great Photos

Photos are the number one way to get a renter to choose your Sprinter over another. We make our stock photos available to help get your listing up as soon as possible. However, it's important to take real photos so renters know what to really expect. It isn’t enough to show them the outside and the interior: You will want a few photos that tell a story. When a renter looks at your photos, you want them to imagine themselves in that photograph. Create emotional attachment and your booking rates will go up.

Response Time and Rate

It’s an on-demand world, right? Quick response time to reservation requests and questions will vastly improve your rankings. There’s no penalty for declining reservation requests, but try to give people feedback promptly.

We want to make sure all our members have a great experience, so we take ratings and reviews into account when listing Sprinters.

Favorites and Social Sharing

Listings get a boost when they’re “favorited” by our members and shared on social networks. So don’t hesitate to share your listing to your own social networks (you’ll likely find new renters there too).

While you’re not obligated to include anything in your Sprinter rental, many owners stock their vehicles with relevant products for the destination, activities, and climate their renter will experience.

To go one step further, some owners surprise renters with specialty kits like emergency supplies (first aid, bug spray, duct tape), coloring materials when they know children are joining, or gift baskets for special celebrations.

Yes, you get to choose your guests. As the owner, you get full control over your listing—price, availability, cancellation policy and booking. You can set renter requirements and message with them ahead of time.

Remember, all our renters are required to submit their driver’s license information for a DMV background check before renting. You will be notified the status of their DMV check via email and the booking overview page.

We make sure you’re covered in more ways than one. When using our site, all personal info and communications are encrypted using bank-level security. Plus, we offer the following protections and benefits to renters and owners:

If someone opts for the roadside assistance add-on, there are specific instructions automatically populated via email for the renter. We use a special partner to handle all requests and service needs. Don't worry, you won't get the calls, that is unless you want them.

With your new Sprinter, Mercedes-Benz also includes free roadside assistance just in case something does happen and the renter didn't opt for the roadside add-on. Don't worry - this information was included in your Sprinter owner's manual.

Rent My Sprinter is owned and operated by Ultimate Toys Inc. but powered by Outdoorsy. Outdoorsy will facilitate/handle all financial transactions, insurance, rental agreement and their services. Ultimate Toys, Inc. is the marketing force behind Rent My Sprinter.
